We believe that play is powerful, and that today’s young builders are tomorrow’s innovators, engineers, and dreamers.
Tosa Block Party was born as an outlet for builders of all ages.
A place to browse classic sets, pass along collections to loving homes, and bounce ideas off fellow brick architects. A place where families could explore the world of building without committing to another box at home. A place where kids could play, build, learn, explore, dream… and yes, celebrate.
No matter what brought you through our doors, if it involved LEGO®, we wanted to help.
And for years, we did exactly that.
For a while, the vision lived just the way I imagined it would.
We celebrated incredible birthdays. We welcomed builders who had never snapped two bricks together before. We watched confidence grow one tiny piece at a time.
But I’ve always promised this community one thing: honesty.
To responsibly keep North Ave. open and offer parties, we need at least two parties every single week to justify the lease. In January, we hosted four parties total. Right now, we have one party this month and one next month.
I’ve studied the numbers.
I’ve adjusted pricing.
I’ve marketed.
I’ve hoped.
But hope doesn’t pay rent.
And if teaching kids has taught me anything, it’s this:
When a structure isn’t stable, you don’t pretend it is.
You rebuild it smarter.
So, we will be closing our North Ave location.
This is not failure.
This is stewardship.
This is choosing long-term mission over short-term pride.
Because Tosa Block Party has become more than a place to celebrate a birthday.
It’s about purposeful play.
It’s about protecting creativity in a world that is rapidly automating imagination.
It’s about reminding kids, especially right now, that their ideas matter.
Technology is accelerating. AI is reshaping industries. Screens compete for nearly every ounce of attention. And yet, what I see every single day is this: when a child builds something with their hands, something deeply human wakes up.
Our school programs are growing, camps are thriving. we’re expanding events like Gamer Night and Parents’ Night Out. The mission is strong.
Real builders redesign, and we will be doing just that on Center Street.
To every family who trusted us with birthdays and big days, thank you.
To every child who poured out a bin of bricks and believed they could create something incredible, thank you.
To this community that continues to support purposeful play, thank you.
We’re not shrinking, we’re refocusing.
